Team

Our team is a group of professionals devoted to the idea of fighting disinformation in media and on the Internet. In addition to the people below, our team consists of a group of volunteers as well as permanent experts, with whom we regularly cooperate.

  • Mateusz Zadroga

    Mateusz Zadroga Editor-in-Chief

    A graduate of history at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University. A member of the FakeNews.pl team since December 2020, since March 2025 editor-in-chief of the portal. He is a fact-checker, an analyst and a trainer. He specialises in historical and military topics, Russian disinformation, and the activities of conspiracy theorist movements. In 2021–2022, he worked as a specialist in detecting disinformation at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJATK). Since April 2024, he has been leading the work of the expert team at PJATK in creating artificial intelligence tools to facilitate the detection and verification of disinformation.   • Karol Orzeł

    Karol Orzeł President of the Foundation

    The founder and creator of fakenews.pl and the “Counteracting Disinformation” Foundation. Professionally, he deals with Internet security and programming. Privately, a social activist, passionate about the Internet. A long-time volunteer of the “Dom w Łodzi” Foundation. Volunteer of the Year 2015 of the Łódź Voivodeship.   • Mateusz Zadroga Editor

    A graduate of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. He graduated in history with a specialization in the Khmelnytsky Uprising and general military history. He is a social activist, he worked for several non-governmental organizations helping abandoned and orphaned children. He is a member of Fakenews team from December 2020.   • Paweł Cymbor Analyst, Fact-checker

    A graduate of Telecommunications and Electronics at the Wrocław University of Technology. Professionally, he specialises in 5G technology. A member of fakenews.pl since 2020. His areas of expertise include politics, social affairs, climate, and technology. He perfected his OSINT skills at courses conducted i.a. by Sekkura and Bellingcat. He holds the DISARM certificate.   • Michał Maras Analyst, Fact-checker

    He graduated in literary studies from the University of Wrocław, and his passion is rock and metal music, with a particular sentiment for Scorpions. He plays the guitar and drums, and his scientific interests focus on the image of the devil and evil in culture.   • Julia Dobrowolska Analyst, Fack-checker

    A PhD student at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw in the field of political science and administration. She graduated in European Studies from the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw. She is an author of scientific publications on disinformation and was a panelist at national and international scientific conferences.   • Paweł Staromłyński Editor, Proof-reader, Translator

    A linguist and culture expert by education, majoring in English Philology. Professionally, he has been involved in translation, editing and proofreading of texts and copywriting for over two decades. He joined the fakenews.pl team in 2021. His areas of interest include language as a communication tool, its plasticity and use in propaganda, as well as non-verbal communication, especially signs and symbols.
