Corrections and Updates

We take all reports calling for corrections extremely seriously. Each time, the author of the article, the editor-in-chief and the proofreader assess the legitimacy of the correction report, taking into account factors such as independence, factual accuracy, and transparency. All our previous corrections can be found in the dedicated section.

Our correction policy is based on the following principles:

  1. Each correction is added right below the thesis and rating in a red, conspicuous rectangle. In it, we explain what the correction is about and reasons for introducing it, as well as clearly define how it has affected the previous conclusions contained in the article. All our corrections can be found here.
  2. If for whatever reason it is not possible to make a correction to the source material, we distribute such correction through the same channels as those previously used for distributing the article containing the error.
  3. In cases where the error is substantial—i.e. it fundamentally changes the conclusions of the investigation or represents a clear departure from the Foundation’s methodology and policy—we provide additional clarifications in the Correction Notes. Such substantive corrigenda are also disseminated through the same channels and in the same format as the original article.

If we add any new information to an article, we clearly mark it as updated and highlight the new content.
